Nordisk arbetarrörelse protesterar mot behandlingen av palestinsk-israelisk parlamentariker

Den samlade nordiska arbetarrörelsen uttrycker i ett öppet brev, ställt till bland andra de israeliska socialdemokraterna, sin oro över att den den palestinsk-israeliska parlamentarikern Azmi Bishara fråntagits sin parlamentariska immunitet.

The undersigned parties and trade union confederations hereby express our concern about the legal proceedings against Mr. Azmi Bishara, member of Knesset. Freedom of expression is vital for all democracies, not least the freedom of expression of a parliamentarian. We therefore look with great gravity on the decision of Knesset to lift the parliamentary immunity of Mr. Azmi Bishara. The decision of lifting the immunity allows legal proceedings against Mr. Azmi Bishara for voicing views and concerns which he should be able to voice as parliamentarian and as citizen in a society building on the freedom of expression.
